A-waiting...

Dear readers (whoever you are),
You know the movie Julie & Julia? Well, I feel like Julie Powell, a person not thinking she has any readers. I feel like I'm writing a diary that is displayed to the whole world, yet that world is unresponsive.
Hopefully, some miracle will come along, and maybe Earth will read this amateur blog and think, "Well, isn't this something?"
The thing is, I don't even think it is something. Just an ordinary high school freshman writing about her ordinary life, setting her ordinary goals. But she hopes that her readers aren't ordinary, but interested. Hope: one of the things that keeps her standing on her feet. Sometimes that hope lets her down, and she loses her balance, but other times, it makes her grow, it makes her taller, it makes her life brighter.
Well, looks like a messy room is calling. Did I mention she's telepathic with inanimate objects? Okay, that was a joke....hello? Anybody there?

2010

Well, the year of 2010 has started pretty smoothly for me, so far. I am excited to be a participant of many exciting events this year. I will be in my school play: 2 one-act comedies of Everything I Need To Know I Learned By Being In A Bad Play and Paper or Plastic. Also, I am expecting to host a German student for 2 weeks in March for a German Exchange Program between my school and one in Germany. I will also be traveling there in June for 3 weeks and will live in a traditional German family. About a week after I come back from Germany, I will be going to Russia to visit all of my dear friends and family members. But I almost forgot a very important thing: I will be finishing my freshman year of highschool on the 4th of June, 2010, so college has become only 4 years away. But enough about me, what will you be doing in the New Year?
P.S. Isn't it kinda weird writing 1/9/10? Hip, Hip, Hooray to the first double-digit year!

Scholarship Search

Welcome, readers!
Lately, I have been on a scholarship search to get into my desired top-notch universities. My search has been going very well and I have found many scholarships that I have been considering to try.
While reading this, I know exactly what you are thinking: "What can a freshman in high school achieve through senior-intended scholarships?" Well, I think I may surprise you with a simple answer: there are scholarships that even freshmen in high school can apply for and get money for depending on the level and quality of the assignment, whether it's an essay, a piece of poetry, or even just signing up for a scholarship-providing website. Google has been a very helpful tool in my hunting. Listen up, fellow high-schoolers and their parents! In my next post, I will provide websites that especially helped me find new information, including scholarships and tips, that would help all of you, such as myself,  get into universities that you desire. Take all of this information into account because it will definitely help you in the future!

My First Novel

Dear Something-Different-From-Me readers,
I have officially decided to write my own novel about my highschool life and those who participate in it. I have enjoyed writing ever since I was in elementary school and it was something I always thought I was good at. I decided to use those skills at writing a book or maybe even adding more books and creating a series. A person can dream right? But I'm not just dreaming, I'm making this happen.
My question for you readers is this: What advice or suggestions do you have to make on this subject? I hope to hear from you!

Invitation to Disaster

"We should hang out and maybe go to the movies sometime," I texted her.
Three hours later...
"I don't think so. I wouldn't okay? Ur just gonna (inappropriate language) me off," she replied.
Bullying occurs when a person who is insecure and has a low self-esteem harasses someone sensitive and respectful. When a person bullies you, never think it's something wrong with you, if you have nothing to be ashamed about. Bullies are unjust to others because they can't be just to themselves, and that's the BIG problem. They put down others with hurtful words, actions, and/or writing to make themselves feel better.
There are different types of bullying, but I am only familiar with three: physical bullying, emotional bullying, and cyberbullying. Physical bullying occurs when a bully, or the insecure, hurtful one, uses physical abusive methods to harm its target. Emotional bullying, on the other hand, deals with words or any other action that a bully uses to disturb its "victim." Cyberbullying is expressing hurtful words on the internet or texting them to or about someone.
In this situation, the girl that I invited used cyberbullying to respond. She could've said, "No, thanks. I'm really busy this weekend, but maybe some other time." But she put inappropriate language into the message to make it hurtful. Bottom line: this person is a bully. She may not realize it herself, but how she acts says a lot about her.
How can we avoid bullying? Well, if someone ever tries or even does bully you, be sure you stand up for yourself. Bullies will never expect that from their victims. Question their so-called "authority." Instead of me asking, "What did I do to deserve this reply," I could say, "Well, now, I don't want to go to the movies with you either, and I do not appreciate inappropriate language." Also, others will respect you more because of how you stood up to the bully. If they didn't know how to stand up to the bully before, now they do, looking at you.
Be sure to take this advice, if you ever encounter bullying. I promise you that you will never be bullied again, but if you still are, you know exactly what to do. The main thing is to do it, and do it quick, before it turns into a really BIG problem.
Good luck, and let me know how it went!
